How to Lose Weight and Still Eat Your Favorite Foods

If you restrict yourself from eating your favorite foods, your feelings of deprivation could trigger overeating. You want to be healthy and fit for LIFE, right? Then you have to allow yourself to LIVE! Organic Liaison's weight loss and diet plan is meant to be a lifestyle that you can keep up forever. This plan is not about deprivation! Here are some ways you can lose weight AND still eat your FAVORITE foods:

  • Control portions. There's a big difference between having a slice of cake and having a slab of cake. There's no reason you can't have your cake and eat it too (why would you want cake if you couldn't eat it?). Just be mindful of your portions. Deducting 300 calories from your allotted calories is far more manageable than having to deduct 650.
  • Eat at home. Home-cooked meals are generally more healthy and less fatty than those cooked at a restaurant since you have more control over the ingredients. Search our Organic Recipes database for your favorite foods and make them at home. With these recipes, you'll definitely save calories.
  • Make substitutions. Swap enriched and refined flours for whole grain flours, like whole-wheat bread instead of white bread, brown rice instead of white rice, and so on. Whole grains have more fiber and nutrients to keep you fuller longer. Swap full-fat versions of your favorite foods with their low-fat and non-fat versions. For instance, use low-fat mayo instead of full-fat or nonfat plain yogurt instead of mayo to shave off extra calories.
  • Plan your meals. If you've completed your web profile, you know how many calories are in your daily calorie range. You can use this information to plan your meals so that you feel satisfied with your choices. Planning ahead also allows you to have indulgent meals every now and then because you can plan lighter meals around them. It's all about COMPROMISE. If you really want to have a hamburger, have it with a side salad with light dressing instead of a side of French fries or potato salad.
  • Watch your snacks and empty calories. We all get the munchies, but that doesn't mean we should mindlessly give way to our inner snack monster. Swap greasy potato chips with light popped corn. Snack on fruit and vegetables. There's no point in blowing 500 calories on “empty calories” (calories that have no nutritional merit) when you could portion out those calories for savoring your favorite foods.
