1. Rise & Shine Smoothie

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Servings: 2. Each serving: 1-1/4 cups.

Ingredients:

1 cup organic orange juice
1 cup organic plain soy milk
3 Tbsp raw wheat germ
1 cup fresh or frozen organic fruit (strawberries, blueberries, bananas, peaches, etc.)
pinch cinnamon

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and puree on high speed until smooth. Serve immediately or refrigerate for later use, up to 8 hours. If you are making this the night before, we recommend you store it in the blender jar and blend it again quickly before serving.

2. Energy Smoothie

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

1/2 cup fresh or defrosted organic frozen sliced strawberries
1 organic banana
1 cup organic skim milk or organic plain soy milk
3 Tbsp raw wheat germ
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 cup organic skim or organic plain soy milk
1 cup organic orange juice
1 organic banana
1/2 cup frozen organic blueberries
1/4 cup raw wheat germ

Nutritional Information: 226 calories per serving

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend on high speed until pureed smooth. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve, up to 12 hours. If you make it ahead, we recommend blending quickly before serving.

  5. I like the Rise and Shine recipe. Adding spices like a pinch of cinnamon makes a sort of a refreshing “twist” and “pop” on the tastebuds. Much more fun!!

    It should be noted that the nutrition facts of these smoothies are based on using cow’s milk. Cholesterol is only found in animal products. Grow up and switch to soy. It’s healthier, tastier, and more compassionate to animals! :-)

    I would use coconut water with a little coconut milk. I do not use soy or dairy products.

    my nutrionist nixes cow milk of any kind (organic, etc) for adults, and that means no whey powder either. you get more protein from other sources, and more calcium from other sources.
